TUESDAY TIP for homes with an unfinished basement: Many stable homes have small cracks from the settling of the foundation and the weight of the house. However, there are times when the cracks do indicate a problem. How do you know which type of crack you have? They grow! An easy way to tell if they are growing is by covering the crack with a 2-inch strip of masking tape.  Image titlePlace the tape at the end edge of the crack and then write today's date on the tape. Wait a couple of months and check the tape. If you see that the crack has grown out of the end of the tape, you may have a problem. Feel free to contact me if you need a recommendation for basement crack repair!
